Tarangire National Park

Known as home of Elephants, the name of the park originated from the Tarangire River that crosses the park and converse an area of 2850sq km, the river is the source of fresh water for wild animals in Tarangire ecosystem during the dry season. There are local migration ecosystem that defined by the long distance of wildebeest and zebras.    Best known for its elephant herds and tree-climbing lions, Tarangire is home to all the classic African savannah species plus a few unusual ones – such as the long-necked gerenuk – that you won’t see in the Serengeti. It’s home to all the big predators and with 550 species of bird on the tick list, it’s a fabulous destination for bird Watchers.       

The park is impressive splendid for its famous concentration of wild animals especially the Elephants and its also one of finest birding destination in East Africa. It is about 130 km drive from Arusha town, the park has remarkable attractions with large groups of Elephants, spectacular natural beauty of savanna landscape and magnificent majestic Baobabs trees, animals like elephants, elands, giraffes, buffaloes, cheetah, leopard and zebras are easy to spotted when you are in 4×4 wheel drive.

What to Do in Tarangire National Park

Bird watching, Enjoy spotting a large batch of colorful and exclusive bird species, over 500 different species are housed with swamps that are spread all over Tarangire. This makes an area to be amazing destination for bird lovers.                     The baobab trees, known as poacher hiding they can live up to 300 years and can grow trunks reaching more than 100 feet in circumference, they have spent quite some time on the planet and seen a lot of history.
