Day 1 – Nairobi to Masai Mara

Scenic Drive Through the Great Rift Valley
The drive to Masai Mara takes approximately 5-6 hours, but it’s far from boring. You’ll pass through the stunning Great Rift Valley, stopping at scenic viewpoints where you can capture breathtaking photos of the vast landscapes below.
Arrival and Check-In at the Lodge/Camp
Upon arrival in Masai Mara, you’ll check into your selected accommodation—whether it’s a luxury lodge or a budget-friendly tented camp. After a delicious lunch, you’ll have some time to relax before heading out for your first game drive.
Afternoon Game Drive in Masai Mara
In the late afternoon, you’ll embark on your first game drive, venturing into the vast plains of the reserve. Keep your camera ready, as you’ll likely spot lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, and even cheetahs hunting for prey.
Sunset Wildlife Viewing and Return to the Camp
As the sun sets over the golden plains, you’ll have the chance to witness some of the most spectacular wildlife activity. After an exciting game drive, you’ll return to your lodge or camp for dinner and relaxation under the starlit African sky.
Day 2 – Masai Mara Game Drive and Return to Nairobi
Early Morning Game Drive
The second day starts with an early morning game drive, which is one of the best times to see predators in action. Lions, leopards, and hyenas are often active during the cool morning hours.
The Big Five and Other Wildlife Encounters
Masai Mara is home to the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino), and if you’re lucky, you might spot all of them in just two days. Other fascinating animals include wildebeests, gazelles, hippos, and crocodiles along the Mara River.
Optional Visit to a Maasai Village
Before leaving the reserve, you may opt for a visit to a local Maasai village. This cultural experience allows you to learn about the traditional lifestyle, customs, and dances of the Maasai people.
Departure and Scenic Drive Back to Nairobi
After breakfast, you’ll begin your journey back to Nairobi, arriving in the afternoon. The safari ends with a drop-off at your hotel or the airport.
Best Time to Visit Masai Mara for a 2-Day Safari
The best time to visit Masai Mara is during the dry season (June to October) when wildlife viewing is at its peak. However, the Great Migration (July to September) is the most spectacular time, as millions of wildebeests cross the Mara River.2 Days Kenya Masai Mara Safari
